Herrera Counseling

Hola! I am Clara Herrera, a licensed marriage and family therapist. I have a bachelor's degree in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine and a masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Fullerton. I provided community based mental health services to children, adolescences, young adults and their families in Orange County for seven years.  I am passionate about working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, and adjusting to life changes. As a therapist trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I help individuals explore and process past experiences that continue to affect their well-being today. EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based approach that supports healing from trauma, anxiety, and other emotional challenges by targeting the root causes. As a certified provider of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), I specialize in helping parents manage their child’s behavioral and emotional challenges—such as aggression, defiance, non-compliance, and frequent temper tantrums. Through PCIT, you’ll learn proven skills to strengthen your relationship with your child and improve their behavior. I offer live coaching sessions where I observe interactions between you and your child in real time. During these sessions, I provide immediate feedback and support, empowering you to practice and apply new strategies effectively. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel truly seen and heard. Together, we will work to understand your story—not just where you've been, but where you want to go. I believe that while you’re doing your best with the tools you have, you also have the strength and capacity to grow, heal, and thrive.
